My 7 year old says: The story is about lots of kids that had magical abilities like earth, fire, air, water and chaos and it was a phenomenal book! My 10 year old say: Lots of cliff hangers, it was an awesome book I did not want it to end. I am ready to start the next book! Adult perspective: My children were both engrossed in this story and talked about when waiting to hear the next chapter. Plus I enjoyed it too. Worthwhile purchase. As a warning, the beginning intro is a little dark but it sets the plot line and the book is not too dark for this age group.

Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2017 Verified Purchase So yeah this one out of twisting and I definitely didn't see coming. Oh yes I definitely knew Whodunnit as they say that was pretty obvious from the beginning of the book but the twist well that I didn't quite see coming good pacing in the story line and a nice twist to something that could have been very predictable I'm still actually a little bit in shock I guess that's a good thing definitely want to read the next one check this one out it will definitely not bore you if you're a fan of the series. Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2020 Verified Purchase Great and intriguing series. Really enjoy these books! I enjoy them more than the Harry Potter series because things actually happen in the Magesterium series, rather a lot of build up and small outcome like in the Harry Potter books. I've only read up to book 4 in Harry Potter to be fair.

LAME-O!!! Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2018 Verified Purchase The beginning of the end in this series. In this book the author starts the small references to gay politics that bombard the next book, and kill the storyline. At least there is a little focus on the storyline in this one, unlike the next one. Might as well stop at the second book in this series. It just gets weird after that. Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2016 Verified Purchase The Bronze Key is the third installment for The Magisterium series. It is a powerful addition to the series, and I had been waiting for it and purchased it on the day it came out. With that, keep in mind that this little review is from the point of view of a fan of the series. This book feels a tad shallow, to be honest. It's writing is light, just a bit too light, and only hints at deeper themes. That's also not a bad thing, because the intended audience is clearly a younger one; perhaps just a few years younger than a Harry Potter audience.
